Four places to donate to Phillipine typhoon victims

Hearing reports of the destruction caused by storms in the Phillipines is staggering.  Government efforts by the Filipinos, with help from the US military and other countries, are underway to rebuild enough of the infrastructure so that aid can be delivered to those who so desperately need it.  If you would like to help provide food, water and other aid, here are four places you can donate.  The links will take you directly to the donation form.  If you would like more information about the organization or the need for donations, please click around the individual site until your questions are answered.   Most sites also have instructions on how to text a donation as well, if you prefer.

AMERICAN RED CROSS.   You can also donate to your local chapter by indicating “Phillipine Typhoon”  on your check.

UNICEF – children are their first priority.

SALVATION ARMY – their website says “The Salvation Army uses 100% of all disaster donations in support of disaster relief operations.”

CARE – an organization dedicated to fighting global poverty that is positioned to deliver emergency aid.

If you need to find friends or relatives in the disaster area, Google has set up a person finder search page.  The web page also says:   “Mobile version is available. You can also search with SMS by texting 2662999 (Globe), 4664999 (SMART), 22020999 (Sun), or +16508003977 with the message Search [name]. “

Please feel free to share this post in any way that you feel will be helpful in aiding those who have been affected.

Busy Monday – week of March 24

We have been pretty fortunate that the last couple of big snow storms have bypassed us at the last minute.  But there is one coming straight at us tonight.   Usually I’m out in the garden, cleaning and dreaming, but not today!   If you are — or will potentially be – snowed in, you can cozy up with a warm drink and spend some time browsing all the great ideas that were linked this past week.  Especially if you are looking for Easter ideas!  There were so many cute, clever, pretty and awesome ideas linked, you are sure to find something that pleases and, because of the snow, time to get them done before next Sunday!   I’m sure there will be even more this week . . . check them out and say “hi” !
