I'm sharing one of my Mother's Day gift!! You may have noticed that posts have been a bit scarce. First it was the back, then carpal tunnel and then . . . in short, I need to learn to work smarter in order to spend less time doing what I do on the computer and to use different muscles doing it! I already use voice to text and a touch screen, but for the keyboard here's some user friendly computer tips from the in-house tech guru. One or two of his tips I knew (and didn't do), but some are new to me. I like desktop because it is faster for me than a laptop and the fact I didn't know this information may be why! (Clearing the cache regularly could be important for privacy concerns too, btw.) Sharing so if you need a reminder, a change or more information as I do -- you'll have ... [Read More]
Blogging
Happy Birthday, A Pinch of Joy
Two years and one month of blogging. . . . It’s traditional to do a happy, happy, happy post. Or a series of posts about the things I’ve learned. Or unveil a great and grand plan for the future. Instead I’m just going to heave a sigh of relief that the past eight months are in the rear view mirror. And carry on. I can do a happy, happy, happy post. And it would be the truth. I love setting down to write. And edit photos. And photograph food with a couple of hungry guys in the background, drooling. And DIY painting, hammering. And the comments and features and research and. . . Sharing and gaining knowledge was number one of the reasons I decided to start a blog. I’ve learned we like bacon, lemon and cream cheese just by looking through the recipes posted! I ... [Read More]
The best of 2012
I’m not sure if this is a year end post or a new year post. . . . but it would say the same thing either way, I think! I set some blog goals last year – and didn’t meet them all. But that’s okay because what happened instead was way better. Wheels gifted me with the blog framework and theme you see today; Bytes gifted me the set up and I was just starting to feel like I knew my way around a bit. Then came a new computer with all sorts of improvements, but I realllly like it for what it doesn’t have – wires! Everything is built into one unit with a big touch screen. Looooove it! Took a lot of time to switch files over and master the learning curve of new programs (still working on both of them!). Then a new desk – which meant the whole office got a makeover – and everything ... [Read More]
Sunshine Award
I was so surprised recently to find a comment from Kathy at Cornerstone Confessions telling me she was bestowing the Sunshine Award on A Pinch of Joy! I’m excited and delighted – anything that involves sunshine is a good thing!!! Coming from a fellow blogger makes it all the better! Kathy wrote: A few weeks ago I received a sweet comment and personal invitation from Charlene to participate in her first ever Busy Monday Link Party. Her sincere comments and enjoyable blog are definite pluses in my book. Kathy has a great blog – fun to visit and fun to read. She says: “I'm just an amateur blogger who is trying to share a little of what she's learning along the way, both to save others the time it took for me to search for the "how to" as well as so I don't forget it later!” Good ... When my blog grows up. . .
What Do You Want Your Blog to Be When it Grows Up party. Thistlewood Farms, It All Started With Paint, The Space Between, Eclectically Vintage, The Cottage Market. are hosting a link up with that very theme. You’ll find this post linked there along with a number of other bloggers who are sharing, too! I actually thought about this topic and did a lot of research before I began blogging. Just because I take things seriously like that. Why would I want to undertake this additional commitment in my already busy life? Just who did I want to be when I grow up anyway? Well, that one was easy -- Martha Stewart with Oprah’s heart. Shoot for the stars and dream big, right? Well, yes but there’s more. I scribbled notes on yellow stickies that laid around my desk for weeks until one ... [Read More]
