A Pinch of Joy

Eat Healthy, Do it Yourself, Live Well, Have Fun.

Busy Monday 715

It’s ninety degrees!!  In March!!  People are breaking out the shorts and lawn sprinklers. Strong winds with even stronger gusts blow night and day.   The wildfires in the western part of the state have burned an area larger than the size of Rhode Island times two.  It’s crazy!!!  But the red finches and black eyed juncos have been joined at the feeders by redwing blackbirds, and shiny black grackles with their long slender beaks and iridescent blue heads.  The brown thrasher that shows up every spring is a month early this year.  And the huge robin, the Sheriff,  is back in town, hopping around, keeping all in order. The rock pigeons and the doves coexist.  Busy little sparrows everywhere.  May you find bird sized bits of joy in your life this week!  Thanks for stopping by to share YOUR awesomeness!

Happy Tuesday, Charlene, and thanks for the linkup. Spring has sprung, or at least partially. We had a wonderful spring-like day yesterday and managed to get out and do a 5 km walk in the woods, but today it’s back overcast and rainy.

Hello! Our springtime birds are in full force right now, we often fill our feeders twice a day. Thanks so much for featuring my Glorious Granola round-up of our granola recipes, I appreciate it. Have a wonderful week ahead!

I recently ended up having to fill twice a day too! The Grackles have taken over the ground feeding and tripled in number scaring the smaller birds away. I stopped the ground feeding and went back to feeders — so we get the smaller birds in bigger numbers and the grackles can’t figure out how to steal it. Who knew there would be a lesson in sharing needed for the birds!
