Wind! And more wind!! So strong that it can throw you off balance in a single gust. There is a family story of a mother, homesteading in Kansas, with seven children, living in a one room soddy with, of course, no indoor plumbing, a cookstove that needed constant attention, a garden instead of a grocery store. One day she walked away from it all, leaving the younger children gaping by the door. She walked across the fields, carefully stepping across the rows, and strode up the hill about half a mile from the soddy. She stood there for a moment. Threw her head back and screamed so loudly the children could hear across the field. And then did it again. When she was screamed out, she came back to the soddy, striding again carefully over the fields. She paused at the door to tell the bewildered children, “This wind makes me want to scream. So I did!” I am with Grandma on this one! May you have peaceful breezes this week – or at least peaceful projects! Thanks so much for stopping by to share what you have been up to each week!!

It is so much fun to read all the Spring themed posts. I have been so busy working that I have neglected my blog. Today I wrote about all my travel adventures for the Spring/Summer. Have a wonderful week!

Thank you for sharing my Carrot Cake Blondies! Yes, I’m very familiar with those winds, as our backyard in North Texas seems to be a wind tunnel at times. 15-20 mph is about normal for most days (which is nice when it’s hot in summer). My daughters had a big playhouse when they were little (in their 50s now) and the wind had blown it apart. I went out and picked up one of the sides and the wind actually went underneath and picked me up about 4 feet off the ground!! I felt like Sally Fields in “The Flying Nun” (but y’all are probably too young to know who she is) ~ anyways, my ex-husband came outside about then and asked me “what in the heck I thought I was doing!?!?!”

That is definitely a story that should go down in family history!

Love the scream story! Sometimes I feel the need to do that (and not just at the wind! haha) Thanks so much for hosting so that we all can share.

I am not a fan of wind! Yes, peaceful breezes are much more my thing. 🙂 Thank you for hosting this wonderful linkup! Wishing you peaceful projects, too.

I love the wind, but less so now living under tall, older oaks that have had decades of too much humidity coupled with not enough water at the roots. But so far no real damage when the wind kicks up. Have a great week ahead, take care.

I always feel like I am going to be like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz when I feel the wind — and who knows where I could end up!
