We are at my sister’s home for the Annual Easter Egg Bash. People start gathering in the morning, some will attend their home church before traveling, others will attend church with the gathered family at a large church in town. By noon, charcuterie boards are curated and juggled into place on the island with fragrant dishes and platters of meat. The younger ones are dying eggs (dead eggs – they call them! Because mothers have patiently blown the contents from the pierced shell for the last six weeks so the kids have something to color without wasting eggs. Those mothers knew their grandmother well — and nothing ever went to waste in her house! ) After dinner, the young (and not so young) are banished to the basement while their elders scatter eggs – dead eggs, chocolate eggs, plastic toys, candies of all sorts) around the the lawn. It takes a good half hour. The youngsters are released. Within seven minutes all the eggs are found! And everyone sits wherever they find a space, feast on candy, some start a softball game, some drift into the living room and everywhere talk, talk, talk. The dishes are done, the casseroles packed up, and we go forth for another year. May you enjoy family and good times this weekend! Thanks for stopping by to share your awesome posts!!
