For once we were on top of the schedule for vegetable gardening — tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers. All were in the ground about the first of May. I was so proud. Yes, it was ahead of the frost free date by about two weeks. But it had been sunny and warm and the forecast was good. Besides I could cover them if I needed and we would have fresh veggies two weeks sooner. Then came two nights in a row of just barely freezing temps. Despite the improvised covers of upside down gallon buckets, bye-bye plants. On the plus side the potted flowers all got moved to the back deck, covered with a sheet and they are doing great! Hope you are staying warm and blooming where you are. Thanks for stopping by to share your awesome posts!

Oh no! A gardeners worst nightmare. Should that ever happen again, before the sun reaches your plants in the morning, spray the frost off the plant. Often that will save them. Hopefully you can get a few in the ground again this season! Thanks for hosting & have a wonderful week.

Oh, poor little frozen plants. I am so sorry. We always wait until Memorial Day weekend, but it’s so tempting to plant early when the weather starts to get warm.
