It has been 10 years since we moved to the Great Plains. Wheels called our new home a jewel box when we first looked at it. Because all the light fixtures matched, I think 🙂 All the walls were dark golden mustard. We painted them. All! The yard had a number of specimen plants barely two foot tall. And now the evergreens are thirty feet tall and too big for the fences. We trimmed back hibiscus, 15 foot high Columnar oaks and climbing roses to paint the green shed white last spring. I’m currently taking out two dwarf (!!) Korean lilacs that are 9 foot tall and only bloom on the top two feet. Maybe this winter I will finalize the kitchen plans. It’s only been ten years after all!

Yes, he does. He decided at the last moment to move with us ten years ago. And, a college town in August, has no apartments available! So he got the entire lower level, his father Wheels was diagnosed with a debilitating disease and Bytes became a co-caregiver. We own a business together now and have our business meetings on the staircase – neutral territory!

Thank you! Getting moved here was SUCH a project! And the mustard yellow walls when we arrived were an urgent project before the moving van arrived. Well developed muscles on my painting arm! lol

Ten years goes by so fast! We’ve been in our house about 9 years, and I still haven’t started many things I want to do! Good luck with all of your projects thanks so much for the party!

Good luck on the kitchen! I think I could easily do a kitchen refresh every 10 years, because I think cooking and family needs change and that always shows up in the kitchen. In what you no longer need as well as what you need now…Thanks for hosting! Have a great week ahead.

You are right about the 10 year refresh! Our lifestyles change so much in that time frame — and so do the kitchen requirements. This house has a six burner professional chef range — I’m not sure that fits into any stage of my life. Two burners and a microwave are my max at any given time! Well, plus an oven at Christmas and Thanksgiving. . .

We are coming up on 28 years in our home. We need to start thinking about remodeling the kitchen soon. But first we have a car loan to pay off, and then we will look into that. Have a great week!

It seems there is always something else to “do first”! I have collected ideas and then rejected them a year later – several times. So there is hope that this is a refinement process and it will be perfect when it finally happens! Right????
