Bytes and I gave a talk to Speech Language Pathology students at the local university this week. We shared our experience with Primary Progressive Aphasia/Frontal Temporal Degeneration, the disease that impacts speech first and eventually the rest of the body. Yes, the same thing Bruce Willis has that affects only .004% of the US population. Wheels’ used an amazing eye gaze device to communicate near the end of his disease. It was wonderful! This was our primary focus — how much his life was enriched by the use of the device. Although he could not speak, he understood what was going on around him. Being able to respond to events, to people and be a “communicator” once again was life changing for him and for us! We are advocating for patients to begin use of this device as soon as possible after diagnosis. May your week allow you to share joy with others! Thanks for stopping by to bring joy by sharing here each week!!

So wonderful of you to spend time educating others about the condition! That will enrich their lives as the students prepare to assist others. The things that stand out most to me from nursing school is when people would share life experiences with us or our instructors did the same. Not that I didn’t pay attention to the curriculum lol. Have a great week!
