Usually May 15 is the last frost day — it was around mid-February this year. People have had their sprinklers on since March and everyone has mowed for the last several weeks. I have stayed away from the flower sales because when I’ve ignored ” it’s not frost free yet” in the past, it didn’t turn out well. I have raked and put down mulch in areas that won’t have new plantings. And I really, really would like to get my hands in the dirt!!! And speaking of the nitty gritty — Thank you to everyone who commented on last week’s post about our talk to the Speech/Language Students. We had feedback from the professors – the students got it! Mission accomplished! I think we all learn in so many ways from the others who show up in our lives. Just look at any Busy Monday — y’all know a lot about a lot of different things! I look forward to learning something new every week. Thank you for stopping by to share your awesomeness!!!

I am always caught off guard by a cold spell once our garden has been planted. This year we fared better than in past years. I too get itching to get out and into the dirt! Have a wonderful week ahead, and thanks so much for hosting.

Thanks so much for the party, Charlene! We always love stopping by to see what you and everyone else has been up to! We sure hope that we’ve seen our final frost of the season (I can’t believe how early yours took place this year) – but I’m still a bit wary! It’s always so nice to welcome May – Happy May!

Weather has been crazy! We’ve had several days in the high seventies, other days when the wind is strong and constant and then chilly days in the fifties. And a couple of rainy days – much needed!
Definitely not a typical spring! But I’m headed to the garden center this weekend! And looking forward to mulching the backyard this weekend LOL.

Our weather has been the same, but I haven’t ventured out the garden centers yet either. We usually wait until at least Mother’s Day before we break ground around here. I did buy some petunias at the grocery store yesterday for an indoor centerpiece though. I just couldn’t resist! Linking up for the first time, thanks!
Charlene says
Welcome! I look for Mother’s Day too – or a few days after when the garden center restocks. I like your idea of an indoor centerpiece!

I know what you mean–we have been unseasonably warm here in Colorado, too. 🙂 Thanks for hosting this fun party, Charlene. I’ve shared 2 posts and off to leave some comment love on others. Have a great week!

We lost our family videoes that were on VHS tapes, too. Sadly they were stored in a “safe place” that was flooded, everything was a total loss and nothing that could be done. You don’t know how much those things matter until it is too late!

We are still having some cold issues here. The only thing that are up are the brave perennials that thought it was worth a shot.
Every time I think we are finally past it the heat kicks back on. I hope we have Spring before summer this year.
Thanks for hosting.

Those brave perennials are pretty good forecasters! I have sedum in the front garden where it’s hot and sunny, and when it started looking alive again — I knew we’d made it through another winter.

Thank you for featuring my Honey Corn Dogs. I like them b/c I can use low fat, all beef hot dogs or my new favorite chicken apple sausage instead of buying “mystery meat”. Have a Happy Spring!
Charlene says
Chicken apple sausage sounds good — I’ll have to look for it!

Our last frost date is May 31 but no one ever waits that long to plant, most people plant after Mother’s Day. However, the garden centers are opening up earlier and earlier every year, and if I don’t buy right away it is gone. So I have my screened in porch loaded with flowers/veggies, and I have to drag them in the house every night when it drops below 35 at night. It’s such a pain. I really wish the garden centers didn’t open so early. Thank you so much for featuring my Harpers Ferry post! I so appreciate it!
Charlene says
I’m envious of the screened porch! Yes, it would be nice if the garden centers weren’t so enthusiastic early on – or planned for those of us who buy later!

Thank you for stopping by — I really enjoy reading travel articles. It’s a win-win – if I am fortunate to travel in that area, I will know what to look for. And If I don’t get to personally travel there – I will see it through your experience!

Charlene,
I am so sorry I forgot to thank you for the feature!! What a surprise!! Thanks so much!!! It was in the lows 30’s here for the past 2 mornings so it is still not safe to plant flowers yet….Usually a week before Memorial Day is good here….
Hugs,

You have been super busy! I’m finding, two years after life changed so drastically, that I am sorting closets, pantry, files, almost everything. It’s a sort, of ritual both for the past and the future. Or an act of desperation in looking for the things I need and absentmindedly just put down wherever! Or both.

Those raised garden beds you posted are fabulous! And so sweet that family saw a need and took care of it. I am sure they will make things so much easier and more productive.
