A Pinch of Joy

Eat Healthy, Do it Yourself, Live Well, Have Fun.

Busy Monday 734

Family Reunion last weekend.  Seventy-nine years people with my mother’s surname have been gathering one summer weekend to celebrate being family.  We’ve met in small towns, big cities, pastures, backyards, church basements across the Midwest.  And are already planning for next year.  People who laugh – a lot – at the same things  are always good company!  May you find some time to laugh with your favorite relatives this week!  Thanks for stopping by to share your awesome ideas, recipes and projects!

They are all different! And so much fun. The water fights had to be outlawed — but the storming of the local ice cream parlor wherever that might be still continues! The high schoolers scooping the ice cream watch with alarm as the crowd starts moving in the door — but soon get into the spirit and have a lot of fun showing off their skills and speed.

It is alway so much fun. And scary to move from being the youngest to —ahem– older!

Thank you for featuring my Yogurt Fruit Bites! Your family reunion sounds wonderful and I wish my family had started that. Now all I know are the cousins who are my age (although we do keep in touch regularly on FB since we’re all over the country) but we’re the “elders” of the family now and I don’t know the next generations (except through photos & posts). Thanks for starting our week off right each Monday!

We are all in the midwest so location really helps! Someone this week told me their family meets every three years with a group of 180 and rented an entire state camp for the weekend this year. They don’t get ice cream though!

We attended my husband’s family reunion in June and it’s always a wonderful way to connect with so many – 84 people in attendance this year! Ours is held every other year and it looks like Hubby and I are in charge of the planning for our next one. It’s a bit daunting right now but we can’t wait to continue the tradition that his parents and his dad’s siblings started many years ago! Thanks so much for another great party, Charlene! Happy August!

We had some new folks this year who came because they remembered being there as a little kid and it is always great to get re- acquainted with them!

We always have complete strangers come and ask if they can be adopted. The breakfast crowd always thinks we are nuts for laughing in the morning, but pretty soon they are exchanging jokes over the scrambled eggs.

Busy Monday 732

It’s been hot, humid and busy.  A typical summer, in other words.  The fountain needs to be filled at least once a day because the hot winds evaporate the water quickly.  The flowers need to be watered daily for the same reason.  I planted lots of sedum and moss rose in the big pots this […]
