It has been a most unusual summer. Temperatures have been lower than usual, the amount of rainfall higher. Wind non-stop. A micro burst came through while we were on vacation and lifted the top 2-3 rows of shingles on one side the roof. Fortunately they didn’t blow off, and all remain attached at some point. When a strong wind blows, each shingle lifts, flaps and sinks. Looks like an old time black and white cartoon of a haunted house! The roofer looked it over on his way out of town for vacation and assured us it would be fine for a week till he gets back. (Hope he is right.) Thanks for stopping by to share your awesome posts, great ideas and yummy recipes!!

Shingles have no loyalty, LOL! Wishing you well regarding your rood. We are much wetter than usual, in East Texas with lots of wind, but the heat is here as well. Trees are down, when it blows and flooding with the next rainstorm. Take care and thanks so much for the visit.

Thank you for featuring my Flag Cake! I gave the recipe to a friend about 10 yrs ago and now it’s her “must bring” to her neighborhood block party on the 4th! … How weird with the shingles! We had holes in our last house from a hail storm (which Allstate said were caused by birds, even though 90 other houses in our neighborhood had the same thing ~ only ones who didn’t get approved for new roof were 4 of us with Allstate), so got new insurance and 6 months later the shingles on the whole back of the house blew off with a small tornado (State Farm did pay promptly). No such thing as a “30 year roof” in Texas ~ I think the maximum is 15 years before it gets destroyed by hail, wind shear or tornado!
