Busy Monday 731

I decided I needed a fresh pair of  walking shoes – meaning my one pair for all day wear, everyday. I also decided a different brand was in order as the last pair was not the same quality as before.  I trekked  to the shoe store, pulled into a parking place  as another car pulled in beside me.  The driver got out and followed me into the store.  I told the clerk, no, I didn’t want the same brand I was wearing, but my sister had recommended another.  She asked what color and popped into the back.

The other shopper made a comment about difficulty in finding good shoes and I agreed.  The clerk brought out the shoe I had pointed out, laced it.   I slipped it on and took a few steps.  Clerk shook her head.  You need a higher arch support, your gait is uneven.  The other customer stood watching, as the clerk returned with a different shoe in that brand and I slipped it on.  The difference was amazing!  As I told the clerk, I would take the shoes, the lady who had followed me in, reached in her pocket and handed me a $15 off coupon!  I thanked her and she walked out the door.

The clerk asked if I knew the woman.  I said, “I’ve never seen her before in my life!”  The clerk marveled.  And, then I said “I have never, ever bought a pair of shoes in ten minutes before either!  It usually takes half an hour or more because I’m hard to fit!”  A couple of other clerks had wandered up and  we all had a joyful laugh about such rare good fortune!
