Humming birds vanished this week. The female spent a lot of time at the feeder one evening, lifted straight up and hovered looking in the dining room window for a minute and zoomed off. The male took his turn. Haven’t seen them since. Because they left for winter migration according to folks who track such things! I guess I thought they hibernated like bears. Or something – actually I never thought about it before. If there is something more grueling than sitting in a car for a 30+ hour trip – it must be traveling the same distance by fluttering tiny wings! My internet source says the hovering and looking in the window was a goodbye because they do recognize the ones who feed them. They will be back next year because they have a phenomenal guidance system in their brain. May you learn something new to you this week! Thanks for stopping by to share your awesome projects, recipes and thoughts!
