A Pinch of Joy

Eat Healthy, Do it Yourself, Live Well, Have Fun.

Busy Monday 116

Yesterday while we ate lunch we watched a baby woodpecker on the tree by the deck.  It was so small and so far down the main trunk that we wondered if it had fallen from somewhere above. I worried that the neighborhood cats would have an easy lunch.  But there it clung, cheeping like a squeaky wheel all afternoon.  We saw mom come four or five times to feed it.  It seemed like the little round ball of fluff was morphing into something more birdlike with each feeding.  By late afternoon, mom had coaxed him up toward the branches.  This morning we heard the squeaky wheel cheeps high overhead.  Baby had survived the night and was ready for the new day and new adventures.  May your week bring you new and great adventures, too!
