When I saw these colorful napkins on the clearance shelf of the grocery store, I also heard them calling out to become dresses for 18″ dolls, like the American Girl dolls! Fifty cents each. Twenty minutes each. Small investment for cute dresses for Molly, Samantha and Robin! Creating the pattern took a bit more time — but you can save that time and get yours from this link: Sleeveless Gathered Dress. You can also use bandannas or any other fabric that is already hemmed. Here’s how to make them:

My niece is going to love these dresses for her dolls! I must say that I’m impressed that it only took you 20 minutes to make one. As a beginning sewer (and slow person in general) it’s taken me 2 hours so far and I’m not done yet:) Mine are made of tea towels with a pretty little band of extra cotton fabric for color along the bottom. Wish me luck!

That is so cute. Great idea with the napkins. I can’t wait till my grand daughter gets big enough to start doing projects like this with me. Thanks so much for sharing at The Gathering Spot this week 🙂
